Abstract

601,168. Spraying insecticides. WILLIAMS, J. F. May 28, 1946, No. 14918/45. [Class 6(i)] In spraying powdered insecticides and the like by a blast of air from a fan, a hood is provided over the delivery nozzles, the sides of said hood closely approaching the ground to enclose the space on to which powder is directed. Powder is supplied into an air duct 33 from a hopper 17, provided with a mixer, by a vertical worm conveyer driven from a shaft 21. Air from a fan 30 delivers the powder through nozzles to the plants being sprayed. A hood 43 encloses the nozzles and the fan air inlet 41. The fan and hopper mixer and delivery means are driven by belts from the landwheels, a dog clutch being interposed between the landwheels and the fan. Several hoods may be fed by branches from the delivery duct of a single fan. Specifications 536,585 and 575,348 are referred to.
