A machine of the type comprising an axial flow fan 15 which blows air radially outwardly from an air tunnel 12 to entrain liquid insecticide fed from nozzles 18, includes a grill 20 comprising a frame 25 with spaced baffles 22 mounted between the ground and the fan inlet screen 17. The grill prevents the clogging of the screen with leaves, twigs, &c. which otherwise would be drawn up from the ground. Specification 661,712 is referred to.
