Abstract
722,527. Crop sprayers; spray-producers. BALS, E. J. March 11, 1953 [Dec. 12, 1951], No.29128/51. Class 69 (3). A rotary atomiser for mounting in an air duct consists of a perforated casing 12, Fig. 1, the inner surface of which is supplied with liquid from a passage 19, and the liquid flows as a thin film over the inner surface and passes into the air stream from the perforations 13. The atomiser is mounted in an air duct 10 and rotated by fan blades 17, and the spray is carried to the crops by the air blast from the duct. In Fig. 3, liquid is fed to the annular space between members 25 and 12 and issues from circumferentially spaced slits 27. The outer surface of the casing 12 on the ring of slits is ridged as at 23. In Fig. 4, the casing comprises a frusto-conical ring 12 with slits 31 secured by blades 17 to a bearing device 30 on a stationary shaft 29. In a modification of the atomiser of Fig. 4 a tubular member is interposed between the casing and the outer ends of the blades thereby providing a narrow annular space for the flow of liquid to the slits.
