Abstract

787,248. Spray-producers. BALS, E. J. Nov. 4, 1955 (Aug. 6, 1954], No. 22986/54. Class 69 (3). Apparatus in which liquid is sprayed and entrained in an air stream generated by an impeller comprises a rotary disc 11, to which an annulus 12 is attached, mounted on a drive shaft 10 and supplied with liquid from a pipe 20. Impeller blades 16, 17 extend between annular shrouds 18, 19 and the disc and annulus, and induce air streams into the apparatus which entrain the liquid impelled through a gauze 15 bridging the peripheries of the disc and annulus. In Fig. 2 one shroud 21 is attached to blades 22 which extend also between the disc and annulus and liquid is supplied by a pipe 23. In a further embodiment, the shroud is dispensed with. The apparatus of Fig. 4 includes a rotary disc with a boss 26, and blades 28 which effect an initial break-up of the liquid. Blades 22 between the disc and annulus 12, and fixed or rotating shrouds 25 are provided.
