Abstract
716,865. Spray-producers; crop sprayers. CLEAN CROPS, Ltd. Oct. 31, 1951 [Nov. 6, 1950], No. 27119/50. Class 69 (3) A centrifugal atomizer within an air duct 22 comprises spaced sleeves 39-42 rotatably mounted about bearings 36 on a stationary shaft 34 supported by a spider 32. The sleeve assembly includes a hub 46 of an air motor 47 comprising air vanes 49 driven by air flow through the duct. Liquid is supplied through a passage 52 in the spider and flows through a passage 53 in the shaft to outlets 51 in a cylindrical chamber 50. The liquid passes to the passageways between the sleeves rotated by the air motor, and is flung outwardly into the main air stream. In Fig. 3 sleeve members 60, 61 are secured together by bolts 64, and a passageway 62 is supplied with liquid from the end of a hollow shaft 69, the liquid passing radially from a depression 68. The air vanes include pins 70 which are held in the sleeve member 60 by screwed plugs 71. The plugs are secured to wedges 73 and may be unscrewed to allow the angle of the vanes relative to the air stream to be varied. The atomizer may be mounted on a carriage and the spray directed as required as described in Specification 679,295.
