Abstract
698,625. Crop sprayers. PEARCH, L. C. Sept. 7,1951 [Sept. 11, 1950], No. 22295/50. Class 69(iii) A spraying machine comprising a fan 15 of axial flow type mounted at the machine rear so as to draw an air current forwards, and with deflectors including one or more arched guide vanes 36, for causing the air to be discharged substantially at right angles to the fan axis, has one or more of the vanes hollow to receive spray solution from one or more feed pipes, and the solution is fed into the air stream from nozzles 56 screwed into the vane or vanes. Each vane comprises a number of flanged segments, Fig. 3, bolted together, and is supported by piates 40 secured between adjacent flanges, the plates having lugs which are attached to the air discharge passage walls. The plates may be apertured to connect adjacent segments, or unapertured in cases where groups of segments are supplied with spray solution separately. A sheet metal trough 46 and a partition 47 direct the air current upwards and on either side of the fan axis. Specification 623,068 is referred to.
