Abstract
699,116. Crop sprayers. PEARCH, L. C. Feb. 25, 1952 [Feb. 26, 1951; July 16, 1951], Nos. 4598/51 and 16801/51. Class 69(iii) A blower unit for attachment to a spraying machine normally delivering liquid under pressure in orchards &c., comprises an axial flow fan 12, driven by an I.C. engine 10, mounted at the rear of the machine, which drives air forwardly between cylindrical casings 22, 13 and across one or more arched guide vanes 14, so that the air is discharged substantially at right angles to the fan axis. The unit includes a number of spray nozzles 29, which are arranged in the air stream and fed from the machine tank 15 via a pipe 31. A curved shield 26 prevents downward air discharge. In Fig. 2, the fan 12 is arranged behind its engine 10 and the nozzles 29 are arranged at the outer end of one or more hollow vanes 38 supplied with liquid from pipes 35, 36.
