Abstract

1,011,143. Spray-producers. KLIMATECHNIK UND APPARATEBAU G.m.b.H. & CO. K.G. Jan. 28, 1964 [Jan. 28, 1963], No. 3697/64. Heading B2F. An apparatus, suitable for atomizing a liquid such as water in a ventilating system designed to maintain the moisture content of the air at a predetermined level, comprises two rotatable frusto-conical impellers 18, 19 adapted to project the water through annular grids 25, 26 respectively, a fan 23 designed to blow air past the casing 27 supporting said grids and to convey the water spray passing therethrough, a duct 34 for feeding water to the distribution chamber 38, formed by an end hub 21, of the impeller 19, and a duct 33 for feeding water to the distribution chamber 37, formed by the hub of the impeller 19, of the impeller 18, the relative amounts of water passing to the impellers 18, 19 being determined by the bores of the ducts 33, 34. The grids 25, 26 are separated by a radial flange 28 and comprise angularly spaced radially extending vanes. The fan 23, the impellers 18, 19 and the hub 21 are mounted coaxially and are all rotated by an electric motor 17. The ducts 33, 34 may be fed from a common pipe 29. The apparatus may be orientated as required and may be located in an air &c. duct. The fan 23 may blow air in the opposite direction and may be replaced by a centrifugal blower.
