Abstract

629,735. Manure distributers. LAST, G. H. Nov. 13, 1947, Nos. 30203/47 and 15112/48. [Class 6(i)] [Also in Group XVII] A powder distributer comprises a hopper 27 having a horizontal feedscrew at its base for feeding powder into an auxiliary chamber 28, the feed-screw being rotated by means including a one-way coupling. The device is mounted on a hand-pushed frame 25 provided with a single front wheel 38 of the bicycle type. The wheel carries a free-wheel sprocket 39 driving a chain-wheel 32, on the feel-screw shaft 29, through a bicycle chain 40. Two hoppers 27 are mounted in tandem on the frame with the shaft 29 passing through both. Each hopper has an auxiliary chamber 28, within which the shaft 29 carries radial spikes 31 for breaking up lumps. Delivery tubes 36, mounted below the chambers 28, are adjustable by means of rotatable elbows 34. An adjustable sliding baffle 41 is mounted between each hopper and auxiliary chamber. In a modification, (see Group XVII), the hopper is carried, rucksac-wise, by an operator who rotates the screw by a lever having a ratchet connection with the feedscrew shaft.
