Abstract

701,118. Manure distributers. PATERSON, R. M. Feb. 27, 1952 [March 13, 1951], No. 6072/51. Class 6 (1) A fertilizer distributer, of the type having a rotary-screw feed W from a hopper H to a vaned-disc spreader S, is characterized in that the screw is rotated by the road wheels so that the feed is proportional to the travelling speed, but the spreader is driven at constant speed by a separate motor 31. The apparatus forms a self-contained attachment mounted at the rear of a lorry (not shown) and bolted to angle-section beams 1, 2. The hopper base 6 leads to a duct 7 in which the worm W is rotated by a shaft 8 extending beyond the duct and terminating in a crankpin 45 to receive pulleys (not shown) which transmit drive from the vehicle wheels. The fertilizer falls through a shoot C on to a point near the centre of the vaned disc S which is partially surrounded by a screen 38. The spreader is driven by a belt 29 and pulleys 28, 30, from a small engine 31.
