[Class 6 (i)] An agricultural or like distributing machine comprises a wheeled vehicle with a hoppershaped floor and with a worm feed device which feeds the material to a horizontal revoluble spreading disc, the vehicle having an engine, with gear box, and shears or gearing of non- variable transmission ratio between the gear box and the feed device and disc, whereby the feed device and disc are driven, according to the desired lightness or heaviness of distribution, at speeds determined by the gear box. In the machine shown, the drive from tne gear box 13 to the rear wheels is disconnected, and a device is taken from the gear box to a shaft 18 and thence to a hollow roller 3 and to a shaft 16 passing through the roller. A worm 4 or vanes on the roller, which is located in a trough 2 at the base of the container 1, conveys the contents of the container rearwardly to discharge it through an opening 5 on to a shoot 6 which feeds the material to the centre of rotating disc 7. The disc is mounted on a vertical shaft 8 driven by shaft 16 and has its upper surface roughened or alternatively fitted with vanes 36 to increase its flinging action. An inclined part 35 of the rear wall of the container serves to relieve the thrust on the thrust bearings for the roller 3. The machine is used as a trailer but alternatively the power drive to the rear wheels may be retained. In a modification a single container has two hopper parts, each having its feed worm and distributing disc.
