Abstract
682,366. Manure distributers. GOUMENT V. O. May 10, 1951 [Jan. 22, 1951], No. 1596/51. Class 6(i) A powder or seed blower, employing engine exhaust gas as the carrying medium, comprises a hopper H mounted on a motor vehicle behind the radiator A and feeding material to a platform B by means of an apertured drum N (Fig. 2) rotating in a housing D. A fishtail nozzle C, connected to the engine exhaust-pipe, is mounted adjacent to the platform B, which, according to the Provisional Specification, carries. adjustable vanes and is tiltable to alter the direction of distribution. The rate of distribution is controlled by a shutter G in the hopper base and by the rate of rotation of the drum N. The drum is keyed on a driving shaft carrying a cog-wheel E which is rotated, step-by-step, by studs L, M on an endless belt K driven by the engine. The belt is perforated throughout its length to receive varying numbers of studs L, M for varying the rate of feed. To ensure intermittent motion of the drum. the wheel E may be associated with a. double-pawl device Fig. 4 (not shown Instead of the recessed drum shown in Fig. 2, the drum may be smooth and carry up standing rubber partitions on its surface, between which the seed or fertiliser ledges. To terminate distribution the driving shaft of the drum N is pulled backwardly, thus freeing the cog-wheel from the studs L, M.
