Abstract

581,378. Manure &c. distributers. ROBBINS, H. G. March 3, 1944, No. 3966. [Class 6 (i)] A spreader for lime, fertilizers, powder, sand, and the like comprises a trailer 4 fitted with a hopper 3, outlet apertures in the base of the hopper, a rotary disc 13 horizontally disposed beneath the hopper floor on to which the material to be distributed is directed, a rotary member 16 mounted on the spindle of the disc 13 and adapted to feed the material to the disc, and a drive from the trailer axle for operating the disc and the feed member. In the construction shown the disc 13 is mounted on a spindle 9 which has a chain wheel 10 driven by a chain 11 the latter being driven by a chain wheel geared to the driving axle 5 of the machine. Material from the hopper 3 is fed to the disc through three apertures 14 in its base 15, two being on a line running longitudinally of the machine and the third being located circumferentially between them. A truncated cone shaped member 16 on the spindle 9 feeds the material towards the apertures. The base 15 of the hopper may be adjusted about its centre and the apertures 14 may be adjustable in size.
