Abstract

587,216. Potato planters. OGLE, A. Dec. 21, 1944, No. 25613. [Class 6 (i)] A potato planter consists of a frame D, supported on wheels B, having delivery wheels A mounted on a horizontal axis C. Pockets E are so shaped as to retain the potato from the highest point of rotation of wheel A to the delivery point on the ground. A horizontal apertured feeding disc F<SP>1</SP> can be mounted so that compartments therein register with aperture T in casing G and also with pockets E so enabling potatoes to be fed from hopper F to the delivery wheel easily. The wheels A may be built up with flanges L having conical edges L<SP>1</SP> to run on the furrow sides. Furrow openers and seed covering discs may be provided. Flanges L may be dispensed with and the wheels A rotated by pulley connection from road wheel B. The horizontal feeding disc F is rotated by bevel gearing from the axle C. A dibbler wheel may be disposed in front of each distributor wheel and be driven from its shaft.
