Abstract
1,253,688. Seed sowing machine. DEERE & CO. 10 April, 1969 [12 April, 1968], No. 18472/69. Heading AID. A discharge assembly for a seed planter having a seed selector mechanism comprises a channel 84 having a seed inlet 50, a discharge opening 86, a rotatable conveyor 82 having a plurality of radial walls 96, and means for rotating the conveyor at such a rate that a seed moving through the inlet is retarded in its descent by the wall in advance of the seed, comes to substantial rest prior to reaching the outlet and is swept out through the outlet by the wall to the rear of the seed. The walls 96 are resiliently deformable and removable so that seeds may be conveyed to the ground individually by using all the fins or in groups by removing selected fins. The discharge assembly may be arranged inside a seed boot and furrow opener with the discharge outlet arranged behind but aligned with the furrow opener with respect to the driving direction of the implement bearing the mechanism.
