[Also in Division F2] A seed and/or fertilizer drill has at least one hopper 6, a mechanism for metering the material into a number of tubes connected to the lower end of the hopper, and a blower 36 which supplies air to the tubes. The hopper 6 is closed by a lid 7 and opens into an annulus 10, Fig. 4, provided with outlet ports 14 surrounded by a masking annulus 15 having ports which may be brought into register with the outlet ports 14 via a linkage mechanism 29, 30, 33, Fig. 5. An annular plate 19 on disc 11 carries a plurality of blades 20 that extend non-radially, the upper blade edges bearing against the plate 21. The disc 11, plates 19, 21 and blades 20 form an ejecting member 22 secured to a rotatable vertical shaft 23A. A housing 23 abuts the hopper and has stationary feeders 24 projecting from its bottom end. The blower 36 communicates with the housing 23 and is driven, as is the ejecting member, via a tractor power take-off shaft. Each feeder 24 is connected to a flexible delivery tube 42 and leads to shoe coulters 43 arranged in two rows on support beams 44 which may be pivoted into a vertical transport position by cranks 59. Each coulter may also take the form of a tube 49 carrying a furrow opener 50 and pivotably and resiliently connected to the beam. A row of flexible furrow closing tines 65 may be adjustably connected behind the supporting beams 44. Support legs 69 may be provided. An alternative coulter is of L-shaped crosssection cut at its lower end to form a V-shaped tip and provided with a holed plate (75), Fig. 8 (not shown), receiving up to four delivery tubes 42. Modifications provide for dual metering mechanisms and ejecting members, and dual hoppers which may be mounted one within the other and contain seed and fertilizer. Alternatively, a single divided hopper (105), Fig. 12 (not shown), is provided, each compartment (106), (107) having a grooved feeding roller (109) rotatable about a horizontal axis to meter material to a hollow ejector disc (115), the rate being varied by adjustable roller masks (111). An alternative form of coulter support includes three aligned supports in each row of coulters, the central supports (100), Fig. 15 (not shown), being fixed whilst the side supports (141) are pivotably connected to them, abutting plates (142) at the pivots having holes (146), Fig. 17 (not shown), to which rigid feed pipes are connected such that the pipes are prolonged to the coulters when the supports are in operative position.
