Abstract

1313744 Rotary cultivator ROTARY HOES Ltd 16 July 1970 [1 Aug 1969] 38826/69 Heading A1B A rotary cultivator comprises a mobile frame carried by the three-point-linkage of a tractor, a rotor shaft, 27, driven by the tractor p.t.o. and carrying cultivating members 28 and a grid of rods 50 arranged to the rear of the rotor with their lower ends level with the ground surface. The rotation is about a transverse axis, usually in a direction which would not assist the forward motion B, of the frame but a reversing gear box 22, is provided for rotation in the opposite sense. Soil is flung by the rotors at the grid of rods 50 such that clods are broken up and a layer of fine soil is left lying above coarser soil. The rotors are partially enclosed by side-shields 26, and a trailed flap 43 supported by a chain 45. The rods may be hollow for the deposition of seeds from a hopper.
