Abstract

1350078 Rotary cultivators; root crop harvesters J J DUNCE 25 Aug 1971 [3 Sept 1970] 42273/70 Headings A1B and A1F An agricultural implement for soil cultivation or root crop harvesting has a body e.g. sleeve 12, a pair of axles 14 on the body located at an angle to each other, and a pair of cultivating or harvesting wheels which may comprise hubs 18 and tines 20, or discs with peripheral projections, these being rotatably carried by the axles such that the wheels peripherally converge at 22 and diverge at 24 in the diametrically opposite region. In the embodiment illustrated the tines interengage at 22 where they contact the ground and a shaft 10 is provided for manual propulsion. A power source may be provided to drive the wheels, and a plurality of pairs of wheels may be mounted on a frame and towed behind a tractor. The tines 20 maybe flexibly mounted and the implement may be used for lifting bulbs, corms and tubers from the soil.
