Abstract
812,421. Manure and fertilizer distributers. HARTLEY, G. S., and HARTLEY, M. J. Jan. 16, 1957 [Jan. 25, 1956], No. 2486/56. Class 6(1). A distributer for applying artificial manures, fertilizers and other granular materials to land comprises a roller 10 rotatable about a transverse axis and members 14 through which the material can be conducted from a hopper 1 to the roller .10 the members having walls shaped to fit the roller and discharge openings 18. The members are retained in position by means of a spur 15 and a spur 19 is provided to prevent the members 14 from being jolted off the roller when in use. The hopper is provided with a number of funnels 9 each of which projects into a member 14. The funnels 9 and members 14 are made of polythene and the roller 10 is formed of a polythene tube fitted over a steel tube. The roller 10 is driven by means of a wheel 21 which engages a land wheel 5. The wheel 21 drives by gearing 31 a wheel 36 which engages a disc 26 mounted on a shaft 23 connected to the roller 10 by belt and pulley gearing 28, 29. The speed of rotation of the roller 10 is varied by adjusting the position of the wheel 36 with respect to the disc 26.
