Abstract

845,800. Rotary compressors and motors. ATLAS COPCO A.B. April 14, 1958 [April 17, 1957], No. 11773/58. Class 110 (2). A rotary compressor or motor of the intermeshing screw type comprises two screws 14 which are mounted on shafts disposed in a common horizontal plane and are journalled in roller bearings 16, 17, the unit being provided with an inlet 19, 20 and an outlet 21, 22 arranged as shown. The unit is also provided with an axial-thrust bearing 18 and acting as a motor may be energized by compressed air or hot gas. The unit may be arranged in series with a lowpressure unit and driven together therewith by an electric motor (see Fig. 1, not shown).
