Abstract

716,342. Rotary pumps. MEGATOR PUMPS & COMPRESSORS, Ltd., and McCOMBIE, F. W. Feb. 16, 1953' [Feb. 15, 1952], No. 4131/52. Class 110(2) In a rotary pump or compressor wherein the driven end of the rotor shaft 1 projects from one end of the casing 3 and is supported in an externally mounted bearing 6 and wherein sealing means 2 are disposed about the shaft to prevent an escape of fluid from the casing, the projecting end of the shaft carries a hub 7 normally fixed thereto but releasable therefrom by withdrawal of the shaft and sealing means through the opposite end of the casing without disturbing the hub and its associated bearing; the latter being interposed between the hub and an extension of the casing or an end cover 4, 5 therefor. The hub 7 is secured to the shaft by a tapered key connection 11 and a nut 10 or is screwthreaded thereon, see Fig. 2 (not shown).
