Abstract

838,491. Induction relays. SIEMENS & GENERAL ELECTRIC RAILWAY SIGNAL CO. Ltd., and CANDLER, J. E. May 2, 1956 [May 3, 1955], No. 12815/55. Class 38 (5). A conducting vane 1 mounted on a spindle 3 operates in an air gap between a pair of magnet cores 9 (only one shown) energized by coils 11 and controls front and back contacts 8 through a linkage 7. In order to impart a definite action to the vane the effect of the flux flowing across the air gap on the vane is arranged to be progressively reduced, by varying the conductivity of the vane, while it is moving from the energized to the de-energized position. To this end the vane is either made of varying thickness, or is of constant thickness and has associated therewith parts of differing conductivity.
