Abstract

249,189. Edgeworth, K. E. Dec. 13, 1924. Polarized relays are constructed with two electromagnets 1, 1 mounted in line on a frame 7, an armature or tongue 4 moving in the gap 3 between the tips of the iron cores 2, the armature, 4 being pivoted or spring mounted on a permanent magnet 5. The contacts 6, 6<a> with which the armature 4 co-operates are adjustably mounted on a sliding carriage 8 which may itself be adjusted relatively to the frame 7 by means of screws 9, 9<a>. The frame 7 may be composed of magnetic material to comnlete the magnetic circuit of electromagnets 3, 3. To vary the sensitivity of the relay a portion of the flux of the permanent magnet 5 may be shunted away through an adjustable auxiliary airgap.
