748,218. Electromagnetic relays. VIGREN, S. D. BROBERG, W. O., and ZANDER, R. A. Oct. 2, 1952 [Oct. 3, 1951], No. 24748/52. Class 38(5) In an electromagnetic control magnet suitable for a relay of the flat type, comprising a magnetic circuit with. parallel legs on which an armature pivots about an axis near the free ends of the legs, one or more spacing members of non-magnetic material are provided so that the magnetic part of the armature is spaced from the core at the pivot end at the beginning of the armature operating movement. These members may be hook-like projections 12 fixed to the armature 5, resting on two side legs 2 of the magnetic circuit, and projecting behind end piece 4 of the coil 3 on the central core leg. The non-magnetic projections may be fixed edge to edge with the armature, Figs. 7, 8 (not shown). The fulcrum may lie in or be offset from the plane of the armature, and its position may be made to vary by giving the projections a slightly spherical form.
