Abstract
1,056,248. Electromagnetic relays; switching systems. BROOKHIRST IGRANIC Ltd. April 3, 1964 [April 5, 1963]. No. 13998/64. Headings H2B and H2H. The biasing winding of an electromagnetic reed relay is supplied from a pulsating D.C. supply. Thus the differential between pick-up and drop-out may be altered by adjusting the magnitude of the D.C. supply. In one embodiment the biasing winding is connected through a variable resistance to a rectifier bridge supplied from an A.C. source. In an alternative arrangement the rectifier bridge is replaced by a half-wave rectifier. The relay comprises a biasing coil surrounding a sealed magnetic reed contact unit and an operating coil wound on a separate core. A magnetic shield is provided around the lower half of the contact unit. The two windings may be wound concentrically on the contact unit.
