Abstract

762,517. Induction relays. VANIER, G. March 16, 1954, No. 7633/54. Class 38(5) A relay comprises a pair of metal discs 2, 3 mounted on a spindle 1 and situated, respectively, in the air gaps of a pair of magnet cores 11, 12 energized by a current winding 13 and a voltage winding 14. The cores are arranged to produce oppositivelyacting forces on the discs whereby the relay is balanced for a given voltage, a bridging contact 6 supported on an insulating arm 5 on the spindle 1 engaging a pair of contacts 7, 8 or 9, 10 at the ends of the relay movement. To prevent hunting of the relay a magnetic rod 21 on the disc 3 is influenced by a permanent magnet 20a when the contacts 7, 8 are bridged. The magnet 20a together with the magnet 19a also serves to damp the relay movement. The core 12 is adjustable about the spindle 17, 18. In another construction (Fig. 1, not shown), a single disc carrying the rod 21 is acted upon by both cores 11, 12.
