Abstract

835,215. Teasing textile fibres. CALLAGHAN & SON Ltd., A. E: May 17, 1956 [Feb. 17, 1955; Oct. 10, 1955], Nos. 4816/55 and 28848/55. Class 120(1) A machine for teasing textile fibres comprises a teasing drum 3 mounted to rotate about a horizontal axis in casing 1 which at the top is curved over the drum 3 substantially concentrically therewith and presents an opening 4 situated substantially centrally above, and extending in the axial direction of the drum 3, and a pair of feed rolls 5, 6 mounted side by side in the opening 4 to feed, preferably from a hopper 7, material to be treated to the drum 3 at a location substantially vertically above the axis of, and close to the top of, the drum 3. One of 'the feed rolls 6 is preferably spring-urged against a driven roll 5 by a spring 9 adjustable by a screwed spindle 11, and the surface of the rolls may be plain, knurled, helically wound with wire, or covered with wire mesh. Preferably part of the casing 1 is formed as a dusting grid with bars 14 and a hinged flap 15 operated by a latch 16. More than one pair of feed rolls 5, 6 may be employed.
