Abstract

789,822. Knitting-machines. MELLOR BROMLEY & CO., Ltd. April 12, 1956 [April 14, 1955], No. 10773/55. Class 74 (2). A yarn feeding device for a circular machine comprises a circular series of rods 13 cranked at each end, as at 13a, 13b so that the ends 13b engage in outer discs 2 to pivotally support the rods. The rods pass through slots 15 in interconnected inner discs 16 positioned adjacent the cranked ends so that by moving the inner discs relatively to the outer discs, the rods are pivoted to move towards or away from the axis of a shaft 1 on which the outer discs are mounted, thereby varying the effective diameter of the circular series of rods. The outer discs 2 carrying the rods 13 are positively rotated by shaft 1 to feed yarns guided by eyes 30 around the rods to the machine, the rate of feed being controlled by the effective diameter of the circular series of rods. The inner discs are freely mounted on inner bosses 2b on the discs 2 and may be rotated relative to the discs 2 by gearing 25, 26 controlled by a star wheel 18 and pegs 23, 24 or may be adjusted manually and secured by screws to the outer discs.
