Abstract

707,053. Feeding webs. WOLSEY, Ltd., and YUILL, D. M. Nov. 23, 1951 [Dec. 14, 1950], No. 30573/50. Class 100 (1) In a tentering machine, or roller blowing machine, or calendering machine, apparatus is provided for brushing out curls B in the edges of fabric A comprising a rotary disc member 6, the periphery of which enters the nip between two co-operating roller members 2, 3, and which is located to overly an edge of the fabric A fed to the nip. The fabric is wound onto the roller 3 the roller 2 being mounted in bearings 14 so that it may move vertically as the diameter of the fabric rolled on the roller 3 increases. The bearings 14 carry posts 12 to which are rotatably secured spigots 11 carrying a pair of rails 9. The discs 6, which are resilient and faced with material such as wool, are carried on spindles 7b, attached by couplings to a spindle 7 in turn supported in bearings in housings 8. Each housing 8 is provided with an extension 17 passing through curved plate 15 and co-operating with a nut 16 so that the housing is secured to the rails 9. The discs may be adjusted along the axis of the roller 2 by loosening the nuts 16 and may be moved away from the roller 2 by rotation of the bars 9 on the spigot 11 after loosening retaining nuts 13. Limited axial movement of the discs 6 is permitted by a spring 22 and the discs are driven through a cable 19 in a sheath 20 by motors 20a.
