772,167. Opening machines. HOTTELART, LES FILS DE C. July 12, 1955 [July 13, 1954], No. 20117/55. Class 120 (1). Relates to openers for textile fibrous material, of the kind in which a rotary spiked drum 7 opens material held by a trough-shaped blade 19 in the points of a rotary spiked feed cylinder 3, blade 19 being carried by the vertically - slidable bearings 11 of a pressure cylinder 10. The bearing slideways are formed in supports 12 which can each pivot about an axis 13 against a spring 15 to enable blade 19 to move away simultaneously from drum 7 and cylinder 3 in accordance with the thickness of the material engaged between cylinders 3, 10. The pressure of spring 15 can be regulated by a screw 17. Each bearing 11 can yield upwardly against a spring 29 the pressure of which is adjustable by means of a threaded rod 22; the minimum distance between blade 19 or cylinder 10 and cylinder 3 is adjustable by means of nuts 26 on threaded rods 25. Spring 15 may be replaced by an articulated lever and counterbalance weight. '
