Abstract

1,205,940. Leather-shaving machines. MASCHINENFABRIK MOENUS A.G. Dec.7, 1967 [June 23, 1967], No.55680/67. Heading C6C. In a machine for shaving leather, hides and skins to a desired thickness and profile, the material passes between a cylindrical supporting roller and a profiled blade cylinder, whose blades are sharpened by a traversing grinding wheel mounted on support which travels along a path of variable configuration, e.g. by following a templet, whereby such configuration is reproduced in the cutting blades and hence in the material. The material 13 is fed in the direction 16 between supporting roller 10 and blade cylinder 4. Roller 10 and drive roller 6 can be swung out of operative position. Blade cylinder 4 is sharpened by grinding wheel 22 carried by support 34 which can move along guide rail 26 or templet having the desired profile. The rail 26 may be resiliently bendable. The rail 26 is supported at its end to a cross beam 32, and the rail may be bent by adjusting a number of screws 50 which are threaded into the beam 32. Alternatively, the rail 26 may be bent by means of a number of hydraulic rams.
