767,938. Aerating compost. ROBERTSON, W. E. Dec. 31, 1953 [Nov. 13, 1952], No. 28679/52. Class 111. [Also in Group XXX] A machine for teasing, aerating and stacking compost comprises a rotatable drum 4, mounted on a frame 1 and having radially projecting forks 5 which pick up the material from a feeding supply and project it tangentially away from the upper surface of the drum and beyond the frame, and a hood 12 fitted over the drum to direct material projected from the drum. The inclination of the hood is adjustable by varying the position of struts 13 carried by the frame 1. Material to be treated is supplied by means of a hopper 6 which is hinged at its lower end to the frame 1 and is held in position by means of adjustable struts 10 so that its inclination can be varied. A tray 7 is fitted below the drum which is preferably made of wire mesh. The material stacked is moistened by means of sprays formed by a length of perforated piping 14. The forks may pass between stationary combs or bars. The drum may be used for sieving the compost.
