Class 94(i) [Also in Group II] Mechanism for feeding articles to wrapping means comprises a disc rotated step-by-step either having a raised centre, or being flat and adapted to rotate on an inclined axis, and having a plurality of peripherally arranged bottomless pockets to receive the articles individually, and a fixed or rotating brush to form, in conjunction with the disc, a basin-shaped volume, supporting means located below the disc to maintain the articles in said pockets, and at least one elevator to move each article vertically and to present it to wrapping means when it reaches a predetermined point in the travel of the disc, that the articles automatically arrange themselves in the pockets prior to being subjected to the action of the elevator. An intermittently rotated feed disc 2 having peripherally arranged bottomless pockets 100 has a raised centre and forms together, with a fixed wall 104, 105 and an exit brush 106, a basin into which the articles to be distributed into the pockets are loaded in bulk. Rails 101 carried by brackets 102 secured to the main frame of the machine support the article in the pockets 100, the brush 106 ensuring that one article only in each pocket is carried round to an elevator 3. The elevator 3 lifts the article together with a wrapper placed thereover from the disc into wrapping mechanism, conveniently of the form described in Specification 699,422. A revolving brush may replace or be present in addition to the brush 106. The rails 101, or a ribbed ring may be rotated in the same or opposite directions to that of the disc and may be moved eccentrically relative thereto. A heating element 113 may be arranged under the disc to keep it and the supporting means 101 dry.-A flat disc 2 rotating about an axis inclined to the vertical may be used.
