Abstract

957,161. Feeding bobbins. COTTON, SILK & MAN MADE FIBRES RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. Jan. 7, 1960 [Oct. 7, 1958; April 10, 1959), Nos. 31909/58 and 12129/59. Heading B8S. Bobbins P are fed by endless conveyer 14 and fall down shoot 14A on to rotating rubber disc 16, which flings them on to circular plate 15 revolving at a lower speed, both disc and plate being inclined. Plate 15 feeds the bobbins nose-to-tail along the gap which lies between the plate and the surrounding hopper 17, until they are discharged from the plate through opening 31. They then fall on to endless conveyer 35 which conveys them to a check weighing machine past a photo-electric light beam 47. The beam causes actuation of gate 40 which governs intermittently the discharge of the bobbins through opening 31 so as to regulate the rate of feed to the weighing machine. Additionally, plate 15 runs upon three wheels 36, 37, 38 (not shown) so that when the weight of bobbins on the plate is excessive the plate tips to actuate a micro-switch to stop the supplying of the bobbins thereto by the conveyer 14. Additionally, the platform 12 is made variable in inclination and the plate 15 may be replaced by one having a different diameter. Specification 957,162 is referred to.
