Abstract

930,405. Feeding sweets. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH) Ltd. Feb. 20, 1961 [March 1, 1960; April 19, 1960], Nos. 7133/60 and 13552/60. Class 78 (1). Sweets 32 (Fig. 3) are fed from hub 11 through tube 13 by the rotation thereof, the tube being journalled in bearings 16 and 17 and being rotated at 19 by belt 21. The tube is formed with an opening 14 the plane of which is perpendicular to the central axis of the hopper. Endless conveyer belt 31, Fig. 2.-A plurality of hoppers 11 are arranged on either side of endless belt 31. Above the belt are fixed guides 37 forming lanes into which the respective hoppers discharge the sweets. Belt 31 feeds the sweets to corresponding lanes on the belt 39. Belt 39 moves more slowly than the belt 31 so as to retard the sweets to form files ready for packaging. In order to keep the files of sweets full, feelers 42 are provided pivoting about a horizontal axis into the respective line of sweets. When a sweet is missing at the end of a file a feeler 42 pivots downwardly and operates a switch 33 to rotate a corresponding tube 13 to cause a hopper to feed sweets into the appropriate lane.
