Abstract

1,126,668. Feed hoppers. TEMAFA. TEXTILMASCHINENFABRIK MEISSNER MORGNER & CO. G.m.b.H. 5 April, 1967 [23 Jan., 1967], No. 15537/67. Heading D1W. A hopper for feeding fibres, hair &c. to preparatory treatment textile machines has two spaced contra-rotating feed rollers 6, 7 extending transversely across the lower part of the hopper shaft 1 which feed material centrally downwards between them to two lower level, more closely spaced delivery rollers 10, 11 contra-rotating in directions opposed to the directions of rotation of the feed rollers 6, 7 respectively and at a higher speed. Delivery rollers 10, 11 loosen the material in carrying it outwards, the material then passing downwards between each roller and the adjacent side wall of the shaft and into a tapered section 12. Section 12 acts as part of a weigh feeder of which the bottom is controlled by pivoted flaps 13. When a batch of predetermined weight has accumulated on flaps 13 they pivot downwards, at the same time one of rollers 6, 7 being automatically stopped. Two hoppers may be mounted on a common underframe 22 to permit batches of different materials in predetermined proportions to be delivered to a single feed lattice 15. The rotational speed and spacing of the rollers may be adjustable.
