Abstract
796,513. Hopper feeding apparatus. CROWTHER, Ltd., J. E. Nov. 26, 1956 [Nov. 24, 1955], No. 33710/55. Class 120(1) A hopper feeder for textile fibres, of the type in which a travelling spiked lattice sheet 12 is adapted to convey material out of the hopper, is provided with a stripper for the sheet mounted for oscillating movement adjacent to the sheet and having two or more combs set one behind the other in the direction of their movement. As shown, four combs 28, 29, 30, 31 are adjustably mounted between brackets 32 which are pivoted at 23 and include counter-balance weights 33, 34, Fig. 2. The combs are set in an arc which is eccentric relative to the axis of pivot 23, so that the arcs followed by the combs in upward sequence are progressively closer to lattice 12. A backing up board 55, Fig. 2, adjustably mounted on the lower comb plate 49, can be moved forward to the dotted line position where it operates to catch material falling from the combs and press it on to the lattice teeth. The stripper and a clearer brush or comb 27, Fig. 1, are oscillated by mechanism 21, 22, 24, 25 operated by an eccentric 20.
