Abstract

772,983. Hoppers. KOBER, K. Aug. 23, 1955 [Aug. 25, 1954], No. 24227/55. Class 78 (1). [Also in Group VI] A vibratory device 3, 4 fed by a single conveyer 2 loosens cut tobacco and distributes it to several cigarette-making machines. An endless belt conveyer 3 mounted to reciprocate as a whole on rails 7 deposits tobacco from the conveyer 2 over the whole surface of an oscillatory hopper 4 having exits 15 delivering via carding and picking rollers 21, 22 to pneumatic systems feeding the cigarette-making machines. A rake 9 rotating in opposite directions during opposite strokes of the conveyer 3 prevents local piling-up in the hopper 4 upon closure of electromagnetically-operated slides 18 effected automatically when individual cigarette-making machine openers are full. The hopper 4 is mounted on supports 11 and is oscillated by a crank 14 driven by an electric motor 13. A preferably transparent dust hood 24 connected to a suction pipe 25 is provided.
