Abstract

796,246. Feeding tobacco. KORBER, K. May 28, 1956 [May 31, 1955], No. 16398/56. Class 130. [Also in Group XXX] Five shaker conveyers 3 feeding individual continuous-rod cigarette-making machines (not shown) are supplied with cut tobacco by a reciprocating belt 1 running on rails 6, and each is pivotable into a position 3<1> when its machine is not ready for operation so as to return tobacco to the belt 1, or to the source of supply therefor, via a belt 27 and a further belt (not shown) transverse thereto. Each conveyer 3 feeds its machine via carding and beating rolls 19, 20 and a pneumatic pipe 23. To stop the feed, e.g. on exhaustion of the machine opener or to change a cigarette-paper supply reel, a machine electric circuit incorporating an electromagnet 16 is opened automatically or manually and the electromagnet armature 15 falls to allow the end of the conveyer 3 linked thereto to drop. The conveyers 3 are operable in both positions by a common drive 10, 11. A cover 29 and dust extraction pipe 30 are provided. Deflectors 17, and rolls 18 alternately driven in opposite directions, distribute the tobacco to the conveyers 3.
