956,073. Endless conveyers. T. M. M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. April 9, 1963 [April 9, 1962; March 20, 1963], Nos. 13620/62 and 11114/63. Heading B8A. [Also in Division D1] Apparatus for feeding fibres to a group of machines provided with individual feed shoots includes a continuously driven conveyer with a horizontal course, means to discharge the material transversely into the shoots and means for removing excess material from the shoots. One embodiment employs a paddle 23 that is arranged to swing intermittently to sweep fibres into shoots 10 first on one side then on the other of conveyer 17. From shoots 10 fibres pass between vibratory plates 12, 13 to delivery rollers 14, 15. A stripping roller 22 operates to remove excess of fibres and to impel them towards a suction pipe 20. In order to ensure that the same amount of material is swept into all the shoots, a small overfeed is arranged on the conveyer and any material remaining on the conveyer joins the fibres drawn through the suction pipe 20. Other embodiments employ pneumatic arrangements for discharging from the conveyer into shoots. One has an air supply pipe 25, Fig. 3, with a slit 251 divided by arcuate partitions 252 that direct air over conveyer 17 so that fibres are deposited in shoot 10 while air passes through a guided outlet 101. The air blasts are arranged to be effective intermittently in relation to the speed of the conveyer 17 and apparatus may be so constructed that air is directed from either side of the conveyer. An air suction embodiment is also described.
