Abstract
710,912. Drying apparatus. TEMPLEWOOD ENGINEERING CO.. Ltd. Feb. 12,. 1953 [March 12, 1952], No. 6423/52. Class 34(2) [Also in Group XXX] Apparatus for drying grass and comprising a casing 1 in which travels an endless conveyer 5 over a perforated support 4, the grass being carried along the upper run of the conveyer 5 and then moved back along support 4 by tines 9 on the conveyer while hot air is blown into casing 1 from a furnace 2 by a fan 3, is converted for grain drying by the provision of feeding mechanism to supply grain from a hopper to the support 4. A grain hopper 13 feeds an elevator 14 discharging to a screw-conveyer 15 which in turn discharges to a hopper 16 having a screw conveyer 17 and a slot through which grain discharges on to the support 4, surplus grain being returned to hopper 13 by screw 17. Removable plows 19 hinged to conveyer 5 distribute the grain. as a bed on support 4 where it is dried by the hot air and is discharged over inclined plate 27 to screw conveyer 6 and removed by elevator 28. Insufficiently dried grain can be returned from the elevator 28 to hopper 13.
