Abstract
902,177. Drying and heating apparatus; heating granular material. AEROJETGENERAL CORPORATION. March 7, 1960, No. 8001/60. Classes 34 (2) and 64 (2). Apparatus for drying and heating granulated material comprises a wedge-shaped chamber 15, pivotally mounted at 18 adjustable by means 20, and having an inclined stepped partition 23, the risers 25 of which have apertures 26 for the passage of a gaseous medium heated and expelled from a blower 32 to dry the material which enters the upper portion of the chamber through a hopper 10, a lump-breaker 11 and feed-screw 12. The dried material is carried in the gaseous medium through a narrow outlet port 31 and a conduit 34 to a cyclone separator 37, and the inclination of the partition 23 may be adjusted about a pivot 43 by machine screws 44. The greater portion of the drying medium from the separator is recirculated through a conduit 39 to the blower 32 while a small portion is delivered through a conduit 40 to eject fines passing from the separator, which small portion is replaced by air from a blower 41. Further heated air is delivered from the blower 32 through a conduit 32b into the upper portion of the chamber.
