908,746. Cooling or drying granular material. KESTNER EVAPORATOR & ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. June 14, 1961 [Sept. 7, 1960], No. 30830/60. Classes 34 (2) and 64 (2). A pneumatic drying or cooling apparatus comprises an inner column through which the material to be treated is conveyed by a hot or cold flow of air, connected at the top to an expansion chamber, and an outer column connected to the chamber, down which column the material passes to a cyclone separator or filter connected to the lower end. Material to be dried enters an inner column 10 through a pipe 17 for upward conveyance therethrough by a current of air heated by a heater 13 from a blower 14 and enters an upper expansion chamber 15 for passage down an outer column 11 which is connected by a pipe 9 to a cyclone separator 16. Additional air which may be heated may enter the expansion chamber, and the material to be treated may be fed into the inner column by screw conveyer means. Specification 592,354 is referred to.
