Abstract
942,995 Pneumatic separators. H. C. ROTHERY. June 7, 1960 [June 5, 1959], No. 19394/59. Heading B2H. Chaff and straw are separated from grain in an apparatus comprising a chamber with an inlet 21 for the feed, outlets 11 and 38 for the grain, and a spout 19 for the chaff and straw entrained in an air stream. The latter is provided either by a blower 34 with an adjustable air inlet, or by a suction fan located at the chaff and straw outlet. Screen plates 23, 25, 27 and 30 extend across the chamber, and the two latter are pivoted and have adjustable inclinations. The feed falls on to plates 23, 25 and grain passing through them falls to the shoots 38 ; grain not passing through those plates is delivered to plate 27 and falls through it to shoot 38. Very light grain is carried to screen plate 30 and falls to outlet 11. The air stream delivered to one end of the chamber carries off the chaff and straw and delivers it to the inlet of the spout 19 which is pivoted at its upper end to the chamber.
