Class 117 Granular material falls from a shoot 13 on to the upper conical surface of a rotary body 3 where it meets a downwardly flowing airstream passing through a hollow shaft 12. The air and material flow downwardly between the body 3 and a co-rotating casing 4, and on reaching the bottom of the casing are acted upon by a stream of air fed upwardly through a pipe 7 and flowing between the lower conical surface of the body and a vertically adjustable conical outlet 6 of the pipe. The finer material is discharged through a gap 11 between the casing and a vertically adjustable part 10 of a housing 9 and falls to an outlet 2, and the coarser material falls through the housing 9 to an outlet 15. The outlet 2 is connected to the suction side of a fan.
