Abstract
937,761. Centrifugal separators. CEMENTFABRIK HOLDERBANK-WILDEGG A.G. Feb. 10, 1960 [March 9, 1959], No. 4734/60. Class 23. Apparatus for classifying solids comprises guide vanes 14 at the entrance to a convergent inlet passage 10, and a classifying chamber 1 having a rotary wall 2. In the apparatus shown air passes between the vanes which are adjustable and the solids are fed into the chamber by a spreader wheel 28. The classified particles are collected in pockets formed by ribs 41 on the wall 2. The flow of air through the classifier is caused by a fan 22, the flow being controlled by an axially adjustable plate 24. In a modification (Fig. 5, not shown) the ribs are dispensed with, the coarser solids are removed from the wall by a scraper whilst the finer solids are collected with the discharging air, and the degree of classification is controlled by blanking of part of the axially length of the wall.
