Abstract
834,547. Spouts for portable containers. MALPAS, C. H. July 31, 1956 [Aug. 25, 1955], No. 24459/55. Class 66. A pouring construction for containers comprises a neck 6, Fig. 4, with an inturned lip 8, and a spout 5 of resilient material slidable in the neck and having a circumferential groove 11 which will tightly engage with the lip 8 when the spout is withdrawn from the neck 6. At its outer end the spout has a flange 12 that acts as a seal when the spout 5 is pushed down, Fig. 2, and a screw cap 13 is applied to the neck. The spout may be of polyethelene and have an end membrane that has to be broken before liquid can be poured from the container. An inwardly projecting finger grip may be formed in the spout for withdrawing it from the neck.
