780,853. Pouring spouts ; stoppers. BLACK, R. A. March 15, 1955 [April 20, 1954; Nov. 23, 1954], Nos. 11373/54 and 33960/54. Classes 66 and 125(3). A pouring spout for a liquid container comprises a pouring lip 20 at the end of the spout 18 and a straight channel 19 formed in the spout and connected with the pouring lip, the length of the curve of the lip and the straight length of the channel being in the proportion of 3 to 13 whereby liquid may be decanted from the container into the channel for the regular formation of drops at the pouring lip. The spout may have several channels 19 and an annular bowl 22 formed at the base of the spout 18 to act as a reservoir. The lip 20 does not extend completely across the top face 14 of the spout so that the spout may be closed by a screw cap. The spout may be formed as a separate member adapted for insertion into a bottle stopper.
