Abstract

1,191,537. Container closures. DIAMOND INTERNATIONAL CORP. 26 July, 1968 [14 Aug., 1967], No. 35789/68. Heading B8T. A dispensing closure 18 is movable axially on a bottle neck 11 having a constriction 16 and comprises a stopper portion 22 and plug 24 which with the neck 11 defines an annular space 26 open to atmosphere when the closure is in raised position, as shown, by means of a discharge passage 28 in the plug 24. When the closure is lowered a seal is formed by the plug 24 immediately below the constriction 16, and in either position of the closure a seal is formed against the neck 11 by the stopper portion 22. The closure may be of the screw type held captive by members 40, 42 or it may be a friction fit. The passage (28a), Figs. 4-5 (not shown), may be diagonal; and the seal formed by the plug 24 may be of different design, Figs. 6-7 (not shown). The bottle may be of the squeeze type and the closure of plastics.
