1,122,474. Container closures. H. S. HODDING (POLYTOP CORP.). 18 April, 1967, No. 17673/67. Heading B8T. A dispensing closure 12 for a container has a lip 40 of initially triangular cross-section around a discharge hole 38 and sealing against a cylindrical surface 28 of a spout 14 which can be pivoted on trunnions (30), Fig. 1 (not shown), from the closed position illustrated into an open position, with its central bore 34 aligned with the hole 38. The lip 40 has specified angular and spatial dimensions. The closure 12, &c. is made of plastics such as linear, &c. polyethylene, or isotatic, &c. polypropylene. In a modification, a lip (76), Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), of initially triangular cross-section, surrounds a discharge hole (74) through a fitment (70) in an internally screw-threaded closure (52), the lip sealing against a cylindrical surface (62) of a pivotal spout (60).
